I’m a teacher of English as a second language, which gives me an extra motivation to study foreign languages and remain aware of what it’s like to be on the other side of the desk.

I have a “native-speaker” level of English and Spanish. Although I was born in the UK, I’ve lived in Spain since 1994 so obviously my level of Spanish is better than my English in many ways, although I still have a slight accent when I speak in Spanish.

Apart from that I have an excellent level of French (certified B2) and a pretty good level of Portuguese (certified B1).

I dabbled in Arabic for a few months in 2016, but kind of gave up because my progress was really slow and I didn’t even know what I was doing most of the time. So now I’m studying Italian, and that’s going a lot better… my knowledge of Spanish and French are helping things along and I’m making really fast progress. You can check out my progress from week 0 (July 2017) until today in a video-blog I set up to motivate myself.
